This is painted from a still out of the Blade Runner cult film; a portrait of Sean Young, who plays the beautiful replicant, Rachael. I didn't really set out to make a perfect copy but the likeness is fairly close. She certainly has Rachael's beautifully sad look, "why can't I be human, too?" Having painted it (the shot is from the last few seconds as she and Harrison Ford zoom out of the city) I decided the background was overly featureless, so I added a moonlit beach, which dictated silver moonlight in her hair. |
