| Our dear friends Larry and Lori got married, and we went over to California for the first time ever. We hired a red compact in San Francisco airport and took the freeway all the way to Lake Tahoe, playing Buffy Saint-Marie on the speakers because she was singing all about Indian country, passing truck signs on big hills saying "Gear Down". The wedding was on the beach of Lake Tahoe, absolutely beautiful, with pine trees in all directions. We stayed in a hut where bears had ripped off the garage doors, because the garbage had been tucked in there for safety! We still have a bowlful of huge fir-cones to remind us of Tahoe. |
