Richard Mitchell was born in Hastings, England and attended the University of
Hertfordshire. Although Mitchell used his artistic talents in the form of drawing for much
of his life, he did not begin oil painting until 1993. Since then, he has produced a wide
range of works, often on commission. Working in oils or watercolour and preferring
subjects that depict human life, Mitchells style varies from impressionist to
realist and always employs the bright use of colour. Mitchell has been influenced by
Robert Lenkiewicz. Today, his very popular English crowd scenes appear in private
collections in Germany, England and the United States. Mr. Mitchell lives in Bourne End in
Buckinghamshire, England, where his work is shown in public exhibitions and through his
website, the Milky Way Gallery.
